Happy Growing

My son, Lee, is now grown, educated, married, & gainfully employed; but once upon a time he was a precocious 7 year old with a seed in his chubby little hand. “Mommy, can I plant this?” he asked me. I responded in the affirmative & promptly forgot all about the seed. Not so long afterward, we harvested 20 pie pumpkins, which became small jack-o-lanterns & pies– all from that one little seed!

The harvest from our garden, a bit from a couple of neighbors, minus what we already ate

Not far from my little garden, urban homesteads, community gardens & such are springing up like crazy. People are producing their own food, clothing, honey, & all sorts of things. Warms my heart…so go ahead. Join the party any way you can. If nothing else, shop at a farmer’s market, or ask your neighbor if you can eat an apple from his tree.
